New Podcast Episode: Covid, Kimmel, and Free Speech 2.0
Check out the second episode of The Next Next Thing podcast
Hi everyone,
I’m back in your inbox with the second episode of my recently-launched podcast, The Next Next Thing.
This episode centers on the concepts of free speech and censorship, particularly in the Trump 2.0 era. Let’s just say it’s a troubling time for free speech — government agencies are going after comedians for making jokes, and have pressured social media companies to take down individuals’ posts — among other things. I wanted to speak with an expert about what it all means for the future.
At the core of it all: The United States was, previously, a country where things like this were not tolerated. But now, it seems, we are. What does that mean for free speech in the U.S. going forward? Will future presidents use the same approach? Will Americans stand for it?
I speak with Lee Rowland, the Executive Director of the National Coalition Against Censorship, about what it all — Jimmy Kimmel, COVID misinformation, corruption at the FCC — means for the future.
If you could listen, rate, and subscribe, I’d appreciate it.
Stay tuned for more!
Sam
